OFFU!
67This Man Could Be
Over Fifty and Fed Up
I suppose because I am an over fifty, and a white male who wishes to express his opinion the media could be predisposed to tar me as dangerous, uncivil, a racist, and worse.
Let me assure you I am non of the above. Frankly, I suppose I am like a lot of other Baby Boomers who now that they are approaching retirement are seeing the spectrum of inflation, high taxes, unemployment, dwindling savings, and more overshadow our so-called golden years.
I am neither dangerous, uncivil, a racist or worse. I am OFFU! Here are some reasons why.
Who Is The Sucker?
I am fed up
with working hard and seeing more and more of what I earn go to those who hardly work.
I am not against helping those who need help. However, I do wish the Feds would be as vigilant in apprehending welfare and social security and medicare frauds as they are in apprehending and prosecuting tax cheats. Right now the way it is the ants work hard and when the winter of their lives come it seems the grasshoppers thrive.
Who Is The Sucker?
- Who Pays Income Taxes Anymore? - AOL News
(April 8) -- Do only suckers pay income taxes? That might be the reaction some have when they learn that about 47 percent of their fellow citizens won\'t pay any income taxes in 2009. That figure comes from estimates by the Tax Policy Center, a nonpa
Picture This!
I am fed up
with those who make a great issue about the number of war related deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan while ignoring the terrible carnage that takes place on the streets of America.
For example The Chicago Tribune reported there were 509 homicides in Chicago in 2008 and there were 314 US Military killed in Iraq for that same year. Why doesn’t some media outlet daily show the latest pictures of the faces of every child, man and woman gunned down in America?
Why don’t those who are against the war, protest against the carnage on our streets? Is not the loss of a Chicago six year who is shot in her head as great a tragedy as the death of a young soldier in Iraq?
Tell Chris if You are Fed Up with Him!
I am fed up
when people such as Chris Matthews of the TV program Hardball who claim that because there is hardly a minority amongst the tea party constituents that the Tea Party movement should be ignored.
Does the fact a movement is not a pie chart reflection of the makeup of the U.S. population somehow diminish it? If so then by the criteria of Chris Mathews, immigration, civil rights, the labor movement and women’s suffrage should have had little validity because they represented a segment of the U.S. population not the total population.

Some Say Paying Reasonable Taxes Is Patriotic.
I am fed up
when in all likelihood I shall see the debt the current administration and congress have created be paid by forcing me and everyone else to pay a value added tax on everything we purchase.
Even if a value added tax was palatable the record of congress as custodians of our money is one of an incredible lack of self control. What is to prevent the U.S. government from continuing to spend far more than every dollar it collects in taxes?
If you are unfamiliar with how a value added tax differs from a sales tax or wish to learn more about VATs go to http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2010/01/Value-Added-Tax-No-Easy-Fix-for-the-Deficit

A value-added tax would not reduce the budget deficit but actually increase it.
Long Waits Are Expected At Government Locations
I am fed up
with long lines, surliness, and incompetence almost every time I have to deal with a government agency and those who somehow think that the new health care bureaucracy will somehow be an improvement over all the other government bureaucracies.
Government has little incentive to improve service. It is a monopoly, it is almost impossible to fire its employees, and it does not depend on you buying its product. Plus congress can or will do little to interfere with how a federal agency treats a taxpayer.
Is It Futile to Try to Reduce Government Waste?
I am fed up
with people accepting government waste as the status quo and saying, "Government has always wasted money, or been corrupt, there is nothing we can do."
That is like saying there has always been crime so there is no use fighting crime.
The only way to reduce waste is to be diligent and put pressure on those who would waste your hard earned tax dollars.

Excellent Hub highlighting those grievances most of us share...those that don't, don't work...
@Hmrjmr: Diogenes died a long time ago...finding the right folks is going to be difficult when the right people are turned off by government...We need 535 Mr Smiths...Larry
Hi! Silly me, I thought I was following you - probably because I read your comments on Bpop's blog every day. And let me say, I think I'm dangerous to the Democrats, because I was one, but ever since the Clintons were in the White House I've been skeptical, and now I'm one who has not only left them, but turned against them.
Great Hub, all true

Keith - I join in your feelings of frustration over the way things are going. We need to make sure we find the right folks for the job in congress and make sure our votes count. Great Hub!!
