Ravenswood Community Service Is One Idea Worth Voting For!

Pepsi Refresh Project Full of Good Ideas

There are a lot of good ideas in the Pepsi Refresh Project. The idea is amazingly simple; people, businesses, and non-profits submit ideas with a positive impact. The ideas are voted upon and various funding amounts from $5,000 to $250,000 are awarded the winners. You can find out more at http://www.refresheverything.com/how-it-works .

I am especially interested in an idea by Ravenswood Community Services of Chicago, Il that is in the running for $5,000 funding.

Their idea is to “Prepare and Serve a 5 Star Meal to hungry people in our neighborhood.”

Three times a year Ravenswood Community Services changes its weekly community kitchen into the All Saints Café. The café provides a fine dining experience for 175 hungry guests in their community. Lucky café guests enjoy not only the dignity of choice, but have the opportunity to order a full gourmet, multi-course meal.

The entrees are inspired by some of Chicago’s leading restaurants. Entrees may include dishes such as apricot-stuffed pork chops or banana leaf steamed tilapia.

In addition to the food guests are treated to a themed environment that includes live entertainment, maître’d service, wait staff, beverage service, restaurant style menus and a professional chef who volunteers his/her time.

It only takes a moment to vote so if this sounds like a good idea to you go to http://www.refresheverything.com/ravenswoodcommunityservices , or if you like once you are there vote for some other good ideas also. However, make sure you cast a vote for Ravenswood Community Services. Actually you can vote many times, so tell your friends about it also.

Because Ravenswood Community Service is a member agency of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, they are able to access some of the food and ingredients needed for this project at extremely deep discounts .

Act now and vote again and again. As of April 15th Ravenswood Community Services is 28th, they need to get into the top ten by April 30 in order to win the $5000 funding. If you would like a reminder to vote just email Wendy at wendy@ravenswoodcommunityservices.org and she will send you a daily reminder to vote.

Ravenswood Community Services has been concentrating on hunger relief on Chicago’s north side since 1933. They began by  handing out bags of groceries to about 20 hungry neighbors each week. Today, RCS is a small, vibrant non-profit that provides food assistance to more than 325 hungry neighbors each week.
